Momčilo Gogić (Pirot, Serbia 28-06-1945), third generation of art family. Took up art in 1973. Painting and living in Paris Between 1973 and 1975 he established himself as an Independent artist, particularly in the painting of landscapes.
Momčilo Gogić captures the idyllic essence of the European landscape. Working in the Impressionist tradition, Gogić represents nature in all of her guises and personalities. Each of Gogić’s paintings presents a landscape that vibrates with intense color, he creates a sprightly, hyper-vivid reality, with dashes of unexpected color that delight the viewer. A delicate mist often hangs over the horizon in his landscapes, providing a contrast between the bold colors of the flowers and the ethereal presence of a soft fog. Gogić’s work is suffused with lovely nostalgia; he represents nature at her most beautiful moments. As he says, these paintings “are above all expressions of personal inspirations and the belief that beauty is the ideal, the hope and the future of art.”
In 1978 Momčilo won the Pirot Fine Artists and Pedagogues Association Award. He represents his paintings in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Brisbane and New York. His affectionate memories of this lush, blossoming part of Europe undoubtedly influences the landscapes he now produces. After establishing his attitude towards the painting that originates in direct contact with landscape, Momčilo, like a real impressionist, often explores the various possibilities the landscape can offer under different conditions. Although his landscapes are inspired by and created in direct contact with nature, they do not illustrate that particular part of nature, they present themselves as an authentic work of art, clear and suggestive.
Momčilo’s paintings are not intended to change the world, less to express the mission of an outstanding producer. They are, above all, expressions of personal inspirations and the belief that beauty is the ideal, hope and future of art.
